For over 30 years, Our Town Players has been presenting live theater in Franklin, IN. The organization is a division of Franklin Parks and Recreation.

The idea to form Our Town Players started in 1995. Local resident Lynne Schuetz worked with Sharon Hood, director for Franklin Parks and Recreation. The pair got together and to write a grant proposal for the Johnson County Community Foundation.

Driving the effort was an attempt to add more cultural diversity into Franklin Parks and Recreations programs. With the grant money, as well as help from sponsors in the community, Our Town Players went to work on its first production. Organizers chose “Our Town” to kick off the troupe.
